Contrast Mizuno MP-69 Irons and MP-63 Irons

The Mizuno MP-69 is targeted at Tour Players and low handicap amateurs. The MP-69 is a muscleback set, evolved from the Mizuno MP-68. The MP-69s feature a slightly more pronounced toe design that has not been seen in a Mizuno set since the MP-32s.

The Mizuno MP-69 Irons are designed with precision craftsmanship to maintain the standards MP players have come to expect.  Mizuno incorporates a newly developed 4D Muscle design to further optimize the set, resulting in a consistent sweet spot height throughout the line that creates predictable penetrating trajectory.  This 4D Technology combined with Grain Flow Forging gives players shot and ball control, and ultimate feel.  Utilizing Harmonic Impact Technology (H.I.T.), Mizuno scientifically tunes the sound of each club head to further enhance the feel.

The grain flow forged Mizuno MP-63 Irons, says Mizuno, is an evolution of its most popular Tour iron also used by Jeff Overton, Paul Azinger, Daniel Vancsik and Todd Hamilton with the introduction of ‘harmonic impact technology’ to improve the sound and feel at impact.

The Mizuno MP-63 Irons have a diamond shape in the cavity of these players’ irons. That diamond shape distributes the weight in the head behind the ball just about perfectly along with offering just the right amount of forgiveness.

What type of golf putter for you?

As a golfer, one of the most important pieces of equipment that you can own is a putter. As you probably realize, your putter is used more times in one round of golf than any of your other clubs. Knowing how to truly use a putter displays your excellence as a golfer.
After all, if you know how to properly use a putter, then chances are that you are experienced at reading a green, as well as figuring out and controlling the speed and distance of your ball. You may even have the knowledge of how to create a pure roll with your golf ball; but this information is useless if you do not know how to use a putter. Knowing how to use a putter has many, many benefits. No matter what, one highly important aspect of a putter is its alignment.
Even if you read your green to the best of your ability and had a perfect speed and roll with your ball – if the putter was not lined up correctly to make the shot, chances are you won’t make it. Your putter’s alignment means everything in a game. Even if you think that you can read your green to the best of your ability, you may not be able to totally hit the ball with the best speed and roll.
Playing this game over and over will show you how to line up the ball to make the shot. You may need to use line, circles, holes, dots, and other features to line yourself up for the shot – but no matter what, with the right putter, it will end up where you want. What type of putter you choose is completely up to you.
Putters are typically chosen based upon a personal preference. Remember that in golf, every person is different. You may choose a putter based on its style, its weight, its look, or its technology. The putter you choose is completely up to you and your personal style. There are a variety of guidelines that can assist you in purchasing a putter. The basic types of putters are as follows: Putter blades: Putter blades are generally narrow and flat.
On the market today, there are several putters that are widely popular among low-to-handicap players. This is due to the enhanced feel of the putters. The blade of every putter entered more in the middle compared to other types.
A blade putter provides extra weight in the heel and toe of the putter to improve forgiveness on off center hits. Blade style putters give you a thin top line to look at while you are over the ball. Perimeter weight: A perimeter-weighted putter design is a forgiving design. The perimeter weightied design distributes the weight around the edges of the club-head, in turn creating a larger sweet spot that helps stabilize any slight mishaps. Mallets: Mallets feature a large, round club-head.
The weight of these mallet putters is usually balanced throughout the head for a more consistent putting stroke. Insert: An insert is designed with composite inserts. These insert putters offer a great feel on the putt, as well as a highly a smooth roll.

Golf: Major winners named in Britain’s Honours List

Northern Irish golf Major winners Darren Clarke and Rory McIlroy were among several sportsmen named in Britain’s New Years Honours List in London on Saturday.

Clarke, 43, was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE), five months after winning the British Open, while reigning US Open champion McIlroy, 22, received the Member of the Order British (MBE), the first rung on Britain’s honours ladder.

“I have had a fantastic year and this just caps it off,” said Clarke. “It is a privilege to be recognised with an OBE. It is a lot to take in.

“I could not have envisaged the year I have had.”

McIlroy won the US Open at the Congressional course in June with a record low score of a 16-under-par 268 and his achievement in winning his first major was all the more creditable after his final round collapse while leading in the preceding US Masters.

“I am delighted to be named in the Queen’s New Year Honours list,” said McIlroy.

“It is quite humbling to be included in such a list of worthy recipients.

Former Aston Villa chairman Doug Ellis, 88 next month, was knighted, and so can call himself ‘Sir Doug’ – ridding himself perhaps forever of the Villa fans nickname ‘Deadly Doug’ for his habit of sacking managers – for his charity work in the Midlands.

There were knighthoods too for London 2012 Olympic organisers Charles Allen and John Armitt.

England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) chairman Giles Clarke, whose time in charge has coincided with England’s rise to the top of the world Test rankings, was made a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire), one rank below a knighthood.

Meanwhile former Test umpire Dickie Bird who, unusually for a match official became a popular figure with fans all round the world, was advanced to an OBE, having already received the MBE.

“I have always said that standing in three World Cup finals were my best memories but to get this is the greatest honour of my life,” explained the 78-year-old Bird, whose latest award was also a recognition for his charity work as well as a cricket career that started as a batsman with his native Yorkshire.

Another Yorkshire sports star to be honoured was Sarah Stevenson, who this year won a taekwondo world championship in spite of having to cope with the death of both her parents through illness.

“It is such a huge honour to receive an MBE and it’s fantastic to be recognised for the hard work I have put into taekwondo for the past 21 years,” said Stevenson, overlooked for the 2011 BBC Sports Personality of the Year when the broadcaster controversially drew up an all-male shortlist.

“I know my parents would have been so proud of this award.”

In rugby union, Scotland’s record points and cap holder Chris Paterson, who recently announced his Test retirement, was made an MBE as was Wales flanker Martyn Williams, capped 99 times by his country.

Former dual code union and league international Bev Risman was made an OBE and current England league captain Jamie Peacock an MBE.

Golf Gear- Your Perfect Mate On The Course!

You need more than just good clubs for a great game of golf. You need a range of golfing gear that will assist you in virtually any climatic condition.
You need gear that would put you at ease so you could concentrate on the next putt, rather than worry about the uncomfortable shoes biting your feet. That’s exactly what Callaway promises its users, and many a golfer swears by this brand name.
The company offers golfing gear, leisure wear and anything you may associate with the game of golf. Golf gear for the woman of today Traditionally, men have dominated on the golf course and that is why most companies that manufacture golf gear cater to the needs of men in terms of design and style.
However, Callaway recognizes that many women are today involved in the sport, and so they provide the feminine variety of goods as well. The great golf clubs are of course similar in design be it a man or a woman playing the game.
Where accessories like sport wear, kit bags and the likes are concerned, Callaway provides great styles for the female golfer. They also manufacture leisure wear that women would love to flaunt on the golf course or at the club house.
Callaway also provides some very modern styles for the young person setting out to learn the game of golf. Once the newcomer is kitted out with Callaway head wear, and accessories, they are so much more comfortable on the course and can get on with trying their hand on some new tricks.
Style and comfort has long been associated with the game of golf, and that is exactly what you will find once you are in Callaway gear. Why not gift some Callaway accessories to a friend? Golf gear does make for excellent gifts that you may want to make on the corporate level. Most corporate heads do involve themselves into the golf scene, if not for the pleasure of the sport itself, then for reasons of status and pride.
The company allows for custom logos to be put into the gear. So next time one of the company’s employees wins a game of golf, guess who will get noticed along the way. When you market your company by placing your logo on the company players’ gear, you are sending out a message to the rest of the world.
You are telling them that your company cares for its employees by making sure they have leisure time, and you also send out a signal that your company is about style and etiquette. No doubt this little ploy will help you make the right image for your company.

Golf experience for beginners

There are a number of ways to improve your golf handicap. Probably the one that everyone would like to do is to hire a professional instructor to analyze your swing out at the driving range and give you pointers and suggestions to help you improve your game. While this is a great idea, and who wouldn’t love a professional instructor help them with their game, it’s just not in the cards for the average weekend duffer. These private lessons often cost hundreds of dollars and often produce little results. How much are you really going to remember 3 months from now from a single golf lesson? Sure you might remember a pointer or two, but for the most part unless you take many lessons over a course of a few months, you really will not see any improvement in your game going this route. Plus you will be out a couple hundred bucks that you could have put towards paying for green fees or even a new club or two. Golf is an expensive sport to be good at. When you take into account the price of a decent set of clubs, balls, green fees, shoes, gloves, etc. you are looking at potentially thousands of dollars every few years if you want to keep up on the latest technology. Most golfers can’t afford private lessons on top of these other expenses. Don’t get me wrong, private lessons are great if you can afford multiple lessons sustained over a period of time. If you can’t then you need to look for inexpensive alternatives to private lessons, for instance a book or an instructional DVD series. I personally feel like you will get way more out of these methods, because you can practice these tips in your backyard, at the range, or wherever on your own time. And you can keep going back and referring to these tips. All you need to do is read something, or watch something and then go and focus on that one area of your game until you see improvement. When you feel like you have finally seen some improvement, move onto the next chapter or video. This way you can break your game down into sections, working on each one before you move onto the next. If you have a single private lesson or two and he tells you 15 different aspect of your game to work on, will you really remember that? So the bottom line is, don’t waist time and money on private lessons unless you can afford to take multiple lessons. If you can’t, get a good book or DVD series and work on your game in compartments. Over time you should see drastic improvement in each area of your game.

To golf discount store shopping is a good choice

Let’s face it. Playing golf is not one of the most economical sports in the world. Unlike basketball where a single ball is needed for two teams to play and maybe, just maybe, some specialized shoes, a golfer requires a lot more gear to get going and that gear, or at least some of it, will have to be replaced from time to time.

With this in mind, smart golfers often look for good golf discount store locations to help them keep their passion in financial check. Considering the expense of golf doesn’t stop when all the gear is purchased, it is particularly smart to save money where possible. After all, a golfer will likely also have to pay for greens fees, cart rentals, perhaps even a caddy and more. So, saving a little here and there without sacrificing quality is a good idea.

Stores that specialize in golf discount equipment aren’t necessarily selling used items or seconds either. There are plenty of discount locations that offer everything a golfer needs to be fully outfitted with the best or darn close to it, but they simply don’t charge as much. The cost savings without quality sacrifice can be accomplished in a number of different ways. Some discount stores only offer their items for sale on the Internet.

This provides savings in several different ways. By not having an actual “storefront,” the Internet discount store saves on overhead, which can be passed along to a customer. Also, by going the Internet route, the store opens its base for customers. Instead of only pulling shoppers from a set geographic location, these stores can have customers from all over the world – literally.

The increase in potential sales can equate to an ability to purchase in bulk from manufacturers or suppliers, which means discounts for the customers.

So, no matter whether it’s brand name items or lesser names, there are still a number of ways savings can be passed along. Plus, the need for a lot of employees is also largely removed.

The large discount golf outlets that have storefronts in a number of locations can pass along savings from bulk purchases.

The buying power of the bigger discount chains can be incredible and is noted in other areas as well. In the case of smaller storefront discount locations, there’s always the possibility of smart stocking and even lowered overhead due to more of an emphasis on inventory than store appearance.

There are a number of ways good golf discount shops can help their customers realize great savings without sacrificing quality.

Shopping around these discount stores can help a golfer get fully equipped without breaking the bank, so it really pays to check them out. Just make sure you buy what you truly need and pay attention to quality cues and stick with the names you’re comfortable with when possible.

Many discount outlets are able to provide name brands or at least name brand quality. If you have to have the Ping clubs, save money on other items to make up for the expense. After all, some things simply can’t be sacrificed.

JB glittering career

A NORTH Wales golfing stalwart is making his way up the 18th fairway ahead of his retirement next year.

John Barnett, fondly known as JB, is getting ready to pack the clubs away on a glittering 35-year spell as club professional at the stunning Royal St David’s, in Harlech.

Barnett made his only appearance in the Open at Carnoustie in 1975, but more importantly he played for the Manchester Alliance against the North Wales Alliance later that year and met the three men who would change his life forever.

Those men were Jimmy Black, the Royal St David’s professional, Arthur Maidment, the captain, and Alan Ellis. They extolled the virtues of Harlech to JB, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Having demonstrated his prowess on the course with all the committee members watching, he was appointed the club’s new professional and took up his post on September 11, 1976, becoming only the fifth person to hold that position since the club was formed in 1894.

John has now become the club’s longest-serving professional.

JB has always had a strong involvement with the PGA, first as chairman of the North Region and thereafter followed by membership of their national committee, captain of the North Wales Alliance, chairman of the Welsh PGA and finally the proudest moment of his professional career when he was appointed vice-captain and subsequently captain of the PGA from 1995 to 1998.

As captain, he attended two Masters, two Ryder Cups (both won), four Opens, two PGA Cups and numerous other events.

“The most wonderful memory was being asked at which club I was a professional, and when I replied Royal St David’ s they’d all either played here or heard of its wonderful reputation,” said Barnett.

“These years have passed very quickly, and I feel very lucky to have been part of this fantastic club.

“But, without that wonderful piece of land out there, none of this would have been possible, and I can only thank everyone for this wonderful life.”

How to find a better golf store

There are many different types of golf stores both online and offline, so how can we cipher through the bad stores and come up with a list of only the best possible golf stores available to you.
Basically every store is going to be different in some way and most will actually target people who are at different levels in terms of their golf game, however it doesn’t mean that you can’t find that store that’s right for you.
This article will endeavor to accomplish this and hopefully allow you to purchase only the best possible products for you and your current level you are at.
Online Stores It’s amazing how popular golf has become online; in fact ever since the internet first became a source for all golfers, the game has seen a massive rise in the number of participants.
This is greatly due to the amount of online stores available right now around the world. So how do I know which online golf store is right for me? Well there are two types of stores, multi brand related and single brand related. What do I mean by this? Well multi brand stores tend to offer a wide range of product from many different brands.
There’s a positive and a negative factor to this however, the positive being that people will have a much larger choice of unique products, but the negative is that if you don’t know what you are looking for then you could end up choosing something that is not right for you and your game. I would recommend calling these stores first and explaining to them that you aren’t sure what you need and hopefully they’ll be able to find you the correct set of clubs or whatever equipment you are after. Single brand stores are stores that only offer one type of brand and on many occasions, the brand is owned by them.
So does this mean you shouldn’t buy any products from these stores because they’re products are of low quality? No of course not! There are many single brand stores that are very reputable and the equipment they provide can be fantastic. Take Callaway Golf for example.
They have an online store that only sells products made by Callaway and we all know the quality of their equipment is outstanding. Basically if you know you want a set of clubs made by a certain brand, then it’s a great idea to shop at a golf store that focuses solely on that brand.
